Hammad brings close to 5.5 years of experience in venture capital and the startup ecosystem, with work spanning healthcare, SaaS, AI-enabled businesses, deep tech, agriculture, fintech, MSME, and consumer internet across India, the US, Southeast Asia, and Japan. He is passionate about backing founders with the same rigor and discipline he brings from his finance background, having also sat on the other side of the table as a founder himself. He has held Board Observer seats across the portfolio and worked on exits and fundraising for the fund.
Before joining Prana, Hammad was an Associate at Rebright Partners, a Japan-based fund with cross-border exposure across India, Japan, and Southeast Asia, where he led deals end-to-end across healthcare, SaaS, deep tech, consumer internet, fintech, and impact, including investments in Nivaan, Stimuler, Crib, Qblocks (now NEO), and Rapidflare. Alongside new investments, he held Board Observer seats across several portfolio companies, worked on the exit side of the portfolio, and built out the fund's LP-facing MIS and KPI reporting infrastructure. Prior to Rebright, he was the one of the first hires at SUNiCON, a Mumbai-based family office that transitioned into a VC fund. Before moving into venture, Hammad founded and ran a spices business.
Hammad holds a Bachelor's in Commerce from Mumbai University and has cleared CA Level II.
Beyond work, Hammad is a reader, a keen cyclist, and a cinema enthusiast who enjoys both blockbusters and arthouse films.
